As a small school on a large campus, HALA offers the best of two worlds. Co-located on the sprawling and stately grounds of Jamaica Campus, our student body can choose from an impressive selection of campus-wide sports, clubs, activities, and AP courses, while also benefitting from activities, clubs, and community-based partnerships specific to our school.
Our forward-thinking staff provides high-quality instruction in an environment designed to meet and exceed standards. As an arts school, the visual arts and music are infused throughout the curriculum to encourage creativity, exploration, and excitement for learning, and our students are reaping the results. In 2021, our graduation rate was 96 percent. We’re very proud of that.
At HALA we strive for academic excellence and student achievement, but more importantly, we want our students to thrive academically and socio-emotionally. We believe that if we teach to the heart, the mind will follow. Our advisory program and distributive counseling model, where every student connects with at least one adult in the school, helps us keep a pulse on the well-being of every student. We place value and invest time in building relationships with our students, creating a space where they feel safe, cared for, and supported.
